Adolf Fredrik Lindblad

Adolf Fredrik Lindblad was born in Lofvingsborg, near Stockholm, February 1st 1801, and died there August 23rd 1878. He was a pupil of Zelter in Berlin, and lived in Stockholm from 1835. His numerous songs, tinged with national (Swedish) color, won deserved popularity, especially after Jenny Lind, his pupil, sang them in public. Works: An opera, Frondenrerna; symphony in C (Gewandhaus, 1839); duo for pianoforte and violin; vocal duets, terzets, and quartets; his popular songs earned him the title of “the Schubert of the North.”
